Public holiday announced on August 20

The Government of Sindh has announced a public holiday on August 20 to honor the annual Urs of the revered Sufi poet, Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai.

An official notification was issued by the provincial government on Friday, confirming that the holiday will be observed across the province.

The three-day Urs celebrations, which take place annually at the final resting place of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai in Bhit Shah, are set to begin on 14 Safar, as per the Islamic calendar.

The Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai is a significant event, both spiritually and culturally, attracting large crowds to Bhit Shah. The celebrations typically feature recitations of the poet’s verses, Sufi music, and various cultural performances, showcasing the rich heritage of Sindh.
