Pakistan Railways to restart Sir Syed Express under new public-private model

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Railways has announced the reinstatement of the Sir Syed Express (35UP/36DN) on the Karachi Cantonment to Rawalpindi route under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP), set to commence operations from September 1st.

The train, known as Sir Syed Express (35UP), will begin its journey from Karachi Cantonment at 9:00 PM, traveling through various cities including Hyderabad, Khanpur, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Sangla Hill, Wazirabad, Gujrat, and Jhelum, with its arrival in Rawalpindi scheduled for 8:55 PM the next day.

In the reverse direction, the Sir Syed Express (36DN) will depart from Rawalpindi at 1:30 PM, tracing the same route back to Karachi Cantonment, where it is expected to arrive at 1:50 PM the following day.

The train setup includes diverse accommodation options such as one AC Sleeper, one AC Business class, one AC Standard class, four Economy Class coaches, along with a Dining Car, a Brake Van, and a Power Plant.

Key stops for this service are Drigh Road, Hyderabad, Rohri, Bahawalpur, Khanewal, Faisalabad, Sangla Hill, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Gujrat, and Jhelum, with an additional stop at Landhi Railway Station on the journey from Rawalpindi to Karachi.

This reinstatement aims to enhance connectivity and comfort for passengers traveling between these major cities.
