KP govt targets self-sufficiency through resource utilisation

PESHAWAR: The Special Assistant to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister on Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education, Abdul Karim Tordher, on Monday announced that the provincial government is actively working to utilize 180 megawatts of electricity from its own resources to solve the energy problems faced by local industries.

He shared this while addressing the annual prize distribution function of Interlink Communication Private Limited, a mobile phone accessories company, held on Monday. During the event, the best-performing sales officers and other employees were honored with awards.

The ceremony was attended by Interlink Communications CEO Ayaz Ali, Country Manager Shoaibuddin, General Manager (Sales) Saifullah, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Mohammad Saddique, as well as sales officers and other staff members. Abdul Karim Tordher distributed cash prizes, shields, and commendation certificates to the top-performing employees, commending their hard work.

Tordher highlighted that the province is leveraging its own resources for economic growth and has established the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minerals Development Company to harness the region’s mineral wealth. He acknowledged that past unfavorable conditions had negatively impacted business activities but emphasized that the region is rich in natural resources with immense development potential across various sectors.

The provincial government, he noted, is prioritizing the utilization of these resources and potential economic sectors to help the province become self-sufficient.

Tordher also remarked that the success of any institution or company heavily depends on its marketing and sales department. He credited the achievements of Interlink Communication to its sales team, noting that their strategic efforts have propelled the company forward toward its goals.

While reviewing the measures taken by the provincial government to foster economic development, promote industries, and create a conducive business environment, Tordher mentioned that a markup-free credit scheme has been launched through the Akhuwat Foundation for graduates of various technical trade courses. This scheme aims to empower young people to start their own businesses based on their skills.

Additionally, Tordher revealed that the provincial government is launching a markup-free credit scheme of Rs1.5 million for housing construction. An Ehsas Rozgar Scheme is also being introduced to support various businesses as part of the cluster development program. He concluded by stating that these initiatives will have a direct impact on the underprivileged sections of society, enabling them to achieve financial independence.
