NA committee vows to intensify global advocacy for Kashmir

ISLAMABAD: The Special Committee of the National Assembly on Kashmir has unanimously decided to intensify efforts to highlight the Kashmir issue on both regional and international platforms.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the committee focused on the gross human rights violations in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and reaffirmed its commitment to raising global awareness of the inhumane treatment of Kashmiris, particularly following the abolition of Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution.

The committee met at Parliament House under the chairmanship of Rana Muhammad Qasim Noon. Expressing deep concern over ongoing human rights violations in IIOJK, the committee also deemed the upcoming local government elections in the region as nothing more than a facade.

Rana Qasim Noon emphasized that Pakistan’s Parliament would continue to expose Indian atrocities against innocent Kashmiris. He criticized India’s denial of the right to self-determination for Kashmiris, calling it a violation of international norms.

He stressed the need for urgent global attention to the plight of Kashmiris, declaring that “Kashmir is an unfinished agenda of Partition, and Quaid’s dream will be realized with Kashmir’s freedom.” He added that over one million Indian security forces have been attempting to suppress the innocent people of Kashmir.

The committee members also recommended visits to the border areas of Azad Kashmir, including Chakothi and other regions. The meeting was attended by several MNAs, including Sardar Muhammad Yousaf Zaman, Muhammad Azhar Khan Leghari, Muhammad Raza Hayat Harraj, Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Ms. Wajiha Qamar, Asad Alam Niazi, and others.
