RAWALPINDI: Former Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has issued a stern warning about a potential decisive turn in Pakistan’s political landscape by September 30.
In a recent video statement, Rashid criticized the current government, which he termed a “rental government,” for its failure to navigate the country through its ongoing crises.
Rashid expressed deep concerns over the nation’s precarious situation, notably in Balochistan, and the general lack of confidence among traders, as evidenced by a historic strike. He pointed out the government’s isolation on the international stage, highlighted by Pakistan’s absence from the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) agenda for its upcoming meeting.
He stressed the urgent need for actionable solutions to the multiple challenges facing the country, from educational collapses to unbearable taxes amidst spiraling inflation.
Concluding his remarks, Rashid urged swift action from the current leaders, cautioning that the political landscape might undergo a significant transformation by the end of September.
