President, PM reaffirm support for Kashmir on Gilani’s third martyrdom anniversary

SLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday paid tribute to the heroic struggle of iconic Kashmiri leader Syed Ali Gilani for the rights of the oppressed people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In a message, he described Gilani as a beacon of hope and resistance, inspiring countless Kashmiris to stand firm in their quest for self-determination.

The President affirmed that Pakistan will continue to advocate for the realization of the people of IIOJK’s right to self-determination, as enshrined in the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also commemorated the veteran Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Gillani on his third martyrdom anniversary, stating that Pakistan will always continue the moral, diplomatic, and political support of the Kashmiri people.

He noted that Syed Ali Gilani will always be remembered as a respectable figure in the Kashmir independence movement and praised his firm belief in achieving the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination, for which he devoted his entire life.

The Prime Minister remarked that Syed Ali Gilani’s services for the independence of Kashmiri people and struggle for the right of self-determination will always be remembered, and that the hardships of captivity could not weaken the late Kashmiri leader’s firm commitment.

He concluded by saying that Syed Ali Gilani’s sacrifices will not go in vain.
