Schumer’s ‘No Kings Act’

New York Senator Chuck Schumer recently introduced the No Kings Act to eliminate presidential immunity, which was a direct response to the United States Supreme Court’s recent ruling that granted former president Donald Trump some immunity for official acts during his presidency. Trump has also lost his latest bid to have a new judge assigned in his New York ‘hush money’ criminal case.

Trump may face sentencing as early as Sept 18, just two days after early voting begins in Pennsylvania for the 2024 election. This could potentially lead to significant civil unrest in the US if Trump is imprisoned.

Truly, the US economy is under stifling pressure, with interest expenditure exceeding $1 trillion and the Federal Reserve struggling to control inflation and unchecked government spending. The possibility of a prolonged recession looms large, and, if the US economy falters, the impact will be felt worldwide. The interconnectedness of global economies means that a downturn in the US could trigger economic turbulence across the globe.

Undoubtedly, the integrity of the US legal system, the stability of the economy, and the trust of the American people all appear to be at stake currently.
