ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice, Azam Nazeer Tarar, stated that judicial reforms are a top priority for the current government. Speaking in the National Assembly on Tuesday, he said the government has been actively working on these reforms for the past five months.
Eight bills were presented in the house on Tuesday, including the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2024 (Article 184); the Criminal Laws Amendment Bill, 2024; the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2024 (Amendment in Article 51, 59, and 106); the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2024 (Article 177, 193, and 208); the Contempt of Court (Repeal) Bill, 2024; the Constitution Amendment Bill, 2024 (Article 198); the Civil Servants Amendment Bill, 2024; the Allocation of Special Seats for Deserving Persons in Universities Bill, 2024.
The chair referred the bills to the relevant standing committees for further review.
Additionally, the National Assembly passed a resolution recommending the government take immediate action to provide state-of-the-art medical facilities in federal capital hospitals and ensure high-quality healthcare for all patients. The resolution was moved by Ms. Aliya Kamran.
Responding to a calling attention notice, Minister for Water Resources, Musadik Malik, highlighted the Green Pakistan Initiative, which aims to cultivate barren land and increase per-acre crop production. He noted that Punjab and Sindh provinces have already identified land for this scheme.
