Water Corp MD faces arrest for failing to address court orders

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court on Tuesday issued arrest warrants for the Managing Director (MD) of the Water Corporation due to non-compliance with court orders.

The court has instructed the relevant SSP to enforce the arrest warrant and ensure the MD appears before the court at the next hearing. Bailable arrest warrants have been set at Rs100,000.

The court expressed frustration over the Water Corporation’s repeated delays in addressing unresolved cases that have been pending for four years. “Why have these issues not been addressed yet?” the court questioned, criticizing the corporation’s failure to meet its legal obligations.

Advocate General Sindh, Hassan Akbar, appeared before the court and requested additional time to submit a compliance report. The court granted this request and adjourned the hearing until September 16.

The cases against the Water Corporation involve disputes over tariffs and unpaid dues. The Sindh High Court has demanded explanations from both the Sindh government and the Water Corporation regarding the delays in resolving these issues.
