Lahore Bar discusses Judicial Division notification, governor promises resolution

LAHORE: A delegation from the Lahore Bar Association met with Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan to address key legal concerns, including a controversial notification regarding the Judicial Division and the need for improvements in the Lawyers Welfare Fund.

The meeting, held at Governor House, was led by President of the People’s Lawyers Forum Punjab and Member of the Punjab Bar Council, Raheel Kamran Cheema, along with Information Secretary Azeem Hafeez.

During the discussion, the delegation highlighted the pressing issues facing the legal community, particularly the impact of the Judicial Division notification and the need for enhanced welfare measures for lawyers. Governor Haider assured the delegation that these matters would be resolved on a priority basis and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the legal fraternity.

The governor praised the Lahore Bar Association and the People’s Lawyers Forum for their significant role in upholding the rule of law and defending democratic values in Pakistan. He also emphasized that the vision of President Asif Ali Zardari and PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari would be taken to every bar across Punjab. Governor Haider further assured that the doors of Governor House would remain open for lawyers throughout the province.

Lahore Bar President Munir Hussain Bhatti and other Bar Cabinet members were present during the meeting.

In a separate event, the Punjab governor congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Health Reporters Association, including President Bilal Chaudhry, Secretary General Zulqarnain Rana, and Senior Vice President Hasan Hafeez. He expressed hope that the association would play a constructive role in addressing health-related matters in the province.
