ISLAMABAD: Justice Farooq Haider of the Lahore High Court (LHC) on Thursday recommended the formation of a larger bench to hear petitions related to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rally.
According to media reports, the petitions were filed by PTI members Alia Hamza, Sheikh Imtiaz, and Akmal Khan, seeking permission to hold the rally, prevent it from being stopped, and halt arrests of participants.
During the hearing, Punjab Government’s Assistant Advocate General Muhammad Farrukh Lodhi represented the state, while Advocate Ishtiaq Ahmad Khan and others appeared for the petitioners.
Justice Haider noted that the three petitions are of a similar nature and require a joint legal interpretation. He also mentioned that significant evidence has been presented in opposition to the rally, warranting a thorough review by a larger bench.
Assistant Advocate General Lodhi highlighted the seriousness of the allegations, stressing the need for proper clarification.
Justice Farooq Haider has forwarded the case files to the Chief Justice for the formation of a larger bench to address the matter.
