New olive oil facility in South Waziristan promises support for farmers, local economy

WANA: An olive oil extraction machine was inaugurated in Lower South Waziristan, marking a significant step for local agriculture.

The ceremony, held at the district agriculture office in Wana, was led by Deputy Commissioner Nasir Khan in collaboration with the agriculture department.

Tribal elders and agriculture officials attended the event. The deputy commissioner highlighted that the machine would boost production for farmers, who are vital to the country’s economic development.

He noted that the machine was designed to run on generators and other power sources in case of electricity shortages, with plans for solarization in the future to maximize efficiency.

Agriculture Officer Habib ur Rehman Wazir projected that the facility would extract 10,000 liters of olive oil this season. He assured that farmers engaged in olive cultivation would receive necessary support, emphasizing that the initiative would improve both the local economy and the livelihoods of farmers.
