Violence against women prevails in Lahore as two gunned, one raped

LAHORE: Unidentified armed men gunned down two women here in the provincial capital and fled the scene, while a committee has formed to investigate the rape incident involving a teenage girl in Allied Hospital, the police said on Sunday.

According to the police, in Lahore’s Satukatla area unknown men sprayed bullets at two women.

As a result of firing, Hina and Sehrish were killed on the spot and attackers escaped the scene of crime.

The police and rescue teams reached the scene and shifted the bodies to hospital for postmortem.

Police said that the reasons behind the dual murder could not be ascertained. However, it have registered a case against unidentified murderers and was investigating the case from different angles.

In Faisalabad, a four-member inquiry committee has been constituted by the Vice Chancellor of Medical University to investigate into the rape of a 14-year-old girl in labour ward of Allied Hospital Faisalabad.

According to a notification issued on Sunday, Associate Professor Surgery Dr. Shehbaz Bhatti has been nominated chairman of the committee.

The inquiry committee has been directed to complete the investigations within 24 hours and submit a report.

It should be mentioned here that two days earlier, Allied Hospital employee Ahsan had raped a 14-year-old girl visiting hospital for a medical test.
