CTD kills 209 terrorists in IBOs across KP

PESHAWAR: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) reported Wednesday that 209 terrorists were killed, and 244 were arrested during intelligence-based operations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa over the past nine months.

The report noted that a total of 497 terrorism incidents occurred in 27 districts across the province. A total of 1,154 terrorists associated with banned organizations were named in FIRs, with 16 individuals convicted by the relevant courts to date.

Detailing the breakdown, the CTD report revealed that 39 terrorists were killed in 52 incidents in Dera Ismail Khan, the home district of both the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor and Chief Minister. Additionally, four terrorists were arrested.

In Khyber district, 22 terrorists were killed, and 25 were apprehended in 55 incidents. North Waziristan recorded 54 terrorism incidents, with CTD police killing 27 terrorists and arresting eight others.

Peshawar, the provincial capital, experienced 33 terrorism incidents, resulting in 66 arrests and eight fatalities among terrorists. In Shangla, 33 terrorists were arrested, and one was killed in six incidents.

In South Waziristan, 11 terrorists were killed, and one was arrested in 39 incidents, while Bajaur saw five terrorists killed and eight arrested in the same number of incidents.

Bannu reported 40 terrorism incidents, with 21 arrests and 15 terrorist deaths. Other incidents included two fatalities in Buner, while Charsadda recorded four arrests and four terrorist deaths in one incident.

Lower Dir witnessed six terrorism incidents with two arrests, and in Hangu, nine incidents led to two arrests. Karak reported five incidents, resulting in three arrests, and Kohat saw five incidents with four terrorist fatalities.

In Kurram, six were arrested, and one was killed in 17 incidents, while in Lakki Marwat, 14 terrorists were killed, and eight arrested in 37 incidents. In Malakand, 25 arrests were made in four incidents.

Mansehra recorded four arrests in one incident, and Mardan saw nine incidents resulting in 11 terrorists killed and nine arrested. Mohmand witnessed eight incidents with six fatalities and one arrest. In Nowshera, five terrorists were arrested, and two were killed in seven incidents.

Tank district saw the highest number of fatalities, with 28 terrorists killed and six suspects arrested in 51 incidents. Swabi recorded one terrorist fatality in the past nine months.
