Kate Middleton stands firm, won’t forgive Meghan Markle over royal family rift

Kate Middleton reportedly remains deeply upset with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry following their explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021. According to The New York Post, the interview caused significant strain within the royal family, with the Duchess of Cambridge seeing it as an irreparable betrayal. Sources suggest that Kate has drawn a hard line and is unwilling to forgive Markle, with no sign of her stance softening anytime soon.

An insider close to the royal family revealed, “Kate has drawn a hard line in the sand — she’s not changing her mind about them.” The source also emphasized that one of the key reasons for Middleton’s firm stance is the lack of an apology from Markle and Harry. “They never apologized for their lies,” the insider claimed. Prince William, however, faces a more complicated situation due to his brotherly bond with Harry, even though tensions between them have escalated since Harry’s departure from royal duties.

In his memoir Spare, Harry detailed the deepening rift between him and William, even recounting a heated exchange during the Sandringham Summit where William allegedly shouted at him. Despite this strained relationship, there are hints that William may wish to mend fences with his younger brother. However, sources suggest that Middleton is wary of further damage being done to the royal family. According to The Mirror, a source noted, “Kate feels that Harry and especially Meghan have done enough damage to the royal family, and will do even more if they’re allowed back in.”

Interestingly, while Middleton remains unforgiving toward Markle, reports indicate that she has been reaching out to Harry in an attempt to offer emotional support. A source revealed, “Kate has been in touch with Harry to tell him to keep his chin up and not worry too much about these temporary setbacks. She feels very sorry for him, especially given the proximity of his ongoing court trial to their home.”

The Oprah interview itself had far-reaching implications, with both Harry and Meghan making serious allegations against the royal family. Harry expressed disappointment with his father, King Charles, while Markle claimed that Middleton had caused her personal distress. Markle also alleged that racial prejudice within the royal family played a role in their refusal to grant her son, Archie, the title of prince. This claim, alongside Harry’s revelation that his brother William was his “arch-nemesis,” only deepened the public rift.

The fallout from the interview was further compounded by Harry and Meghan’s Netflix docuseries and the release of Spare, where the couple elaborated on the reasons for stepping back from royal duties in 2020. Despite efforts from some members of the royal family to mend these fractured relationships, it seems Kate Middleton’s stance on Markle remains firm, with little hope of reconciliation anytime soon.
