Harvey Weinstein diagnosed with cancer while awaiting second trial on sexual assault charges

Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced Hollywood producer, has been diagnosed with cancer while serving a 23-year prison sentence for rape and sexual assault. The diagnosis, revealed earlier this month, was initially denied by his representatives but later confirmed. Weinstein’s legal healthcare representative expressed frustration over the public speculation surrounding his health.

Weinstein, 72, became a central figure in the #MeToo movement after numerous women, including actress Rose McGowan, accused him of sexual misconduct. He was convicted in 2020 for raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann and assaulting former “Project Runway” assistant Miriam Haleyi.

In April 2024, his conviction was overturned in a 4-3 decision, and he is currently awaiting a retrial. Additionally, Weinstein was sentenced to 16 more years in 2022 for separate sexual assault charges. Despite his health issues, Weinstein faces continued legal battles as more allegations against him persist.
