Punjab CM approves increased housing funds for families of police martyrs

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Friday approved a significant increase in funds allocated to assist families of police martyrs in purchasing homes, a step aimed at supporting the welfare of those who lost loved ones in the line of duty.

The fund enhancement, facilitated by IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, provides increased financial support ranging from Rs. 5 million to Rs. 20 million, depending on rank, to help families secure suitable housing.

Under the new structure, families of martyred constables and head constables will receive a total of Rs. 18.5 million, marking a Rs. 5 million increase. Families of martyred ASIs and sub-inspectors will see their housing funds increased by Rs. 7 million, totaling Rs. 24.5 million.

For families of martyred inspectors and DSPs, an additional Rs. 10 million has been approved, while families of SPs and SSPs will receive an increase of Rs. 12 million. The highest increment, Rs. 20 million, has been reserved for families of DIGs and senior-ranking officers.

IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, stating that the enhanced funds will help alleviate housing challenges and improve living standards for the families of police martyrs.
