Celebrity hairstylist Emanuel Miller opened up about his challenging experiences with A-listers Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lopez, and Blake Lively on this week’s episode of the “What It Was Like” podcast. Miller, a veteran in the industry, described his time with Hathaway as particularly difficult, saying, “I did a film with Anne Hathaway, and that was one of my worst experiences. For four and a half months, she treated me like a servant.”
Miller alleged that Hathaway, despite his daily one-on-one work with her, never engaged in any personal conversations, unlike many other stars he’s worked with, including Cate Blanchett and Johnny Depp. Hathaway, in a statement to Page Six, responded by saying, “It’s unfortunate to hear that Manny’s memory of our time together differed so dramatically from mine. I continue to wish him nothing but the best.”
In the same podcast, Miller shared a past encounter with Jennifer Lopez on a talk show set, recounting how the atmosphere shifted dramatically when she arrived. “All of a sudden, there was panic, and we were told to ‘clear the room,’” he said. After stepping out, Miller realized he’d left his overcoat in the room and went back to retrieve it, only to have Lopez reportedly look through him before directing her bodyguards to clear the area. Miller recalled, “She just gave me a blank stare, as if to say, ‘Why isn’t this room cleared?’”
Miller also described a more recent experience working with Blake Lively on her 2011 film, “Hick.” Despite inviting him and the crew to lunch, Lively allegedly ignored everyone, leaving him and the host speculating whether anxiety may have been involved. “That’s kind of you to give her the benefit of the doubt, but I didn’t see her speak to anybody,” Miller said.
While Hathaway responded to Miller’s comments, representatives for Lopez and Lively did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.
