LAHORE: Punjab Police on Sunday achieved a significant success in its ongoing operations against Kacha criminals by eliminating two notorious dacoits, Badla Manglani and Qasim Chachar, in an intelligence-based operation in Rahim Yar Khan.
The operation took place in Kacha Jamal Din Wali, where the wanted criminals, involved in various serious crimes, were killed in a police encounter.
The deceased were wanted for multiple offenses, including robbery, extortion, kidnapping for ransom, and the martyrdom of police personnel. Manglani and Chachar were responsible for the May 2023 killing of Sindh Police’s ASI Amanullah Abro and the martyrdom of Constable Akbar Gopang in Bhong.
According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, intelligence indicated the criminals were hiding in the mango orchards of Kacha Jamal Din Wali, prompting a swift police response. The dacoits opened fire upon seeing the police, resulting in a gun battle.
After the exchange, police recovered the bodies of Manglani and Chachar along with heavy weaponry, including Kalashnikovs, ammunition, and a stolen motorcycle. The bodies were transported to a hospital for legal procedures, while a search operation in the area continues.
The police spokesperson added that the dacoits were likely planning a major crime, but the timely police action prevented their plans. The operation, led by In-charge CIA Bhong Jibran Jerad and In-charge Chowki Jamal Din Wali, involved multiple police teams and armoured vehicles.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended DPO Rizwan Umar Gondal and his team for their successful action, urging continued intelligence-based operations to eliminate Kacha criminals from the region.
