reddie Prinze Jr. recently opened up about his low-key life with wife Sarah Michelle Gellar and how they’ve managed to keep their relationship private for over 20 years. Speaking with Brian Austin Green on the Oldish podcast, the Freddie actor shared that he and Gellar intentionally avoid the spotlight.
“We stay out of the public eye by choice,” Prinze, 48, explained. He emphasized that they steer clear of trendy places where paparazzi are known to gather, preferring quieter restaurants and locations. “People don’t see Sarah and I out and about at the popular places,” he said, adding, “It’s not that hard if you really want to avoid that.”
Prinze pointed out that they don’t need the attention, remarking, “We just don’t like that life.” He credited Gellar’s New York upbringing, saying she “experienced everything” early on, which led them both to a lifestyle that values privacy.
The couple first met on the set of I Know What You Did Last Summer in 1997, married in 2002, and have since welcomed two children, Charlotte, 15, and Rocky, 12. They recently celebrated 22 years together, with Gellar posting a sweet photo on Instagram with the caption “22 @realfreddieprinze 🥂💍👰🏼.”
Their intentional choice to avoid the Hollywood scene seems to have played a role in their relationship’s longevity, as they continue to enjoy a private, down-to-earth life together.
