Selena Gomez recently clapped back at body-shaming comments after her appearance on the Emilia Pérez red carpet in Los Angeles. The Only Murders in the Building star, 32, attended the American French Film Festival on October 29 in a sleek, long-sleeve black dress. Photos showing Gomez posing with her hand on her stomach led some TikTok users to speculate that she was hiding her figure, prompting Gomez to respond.
In the comments, the singer addressed her critics, saying, “This makes me sick” and explaining her health condition, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SEBO), which can cause bloating and discomfort. “I don’t care that I don’t look like a stick figure. I don’t have that body. End of story,” she added.
Known for her openness about health struggles, including lupus and a 2017 kidney transplant, Gomez emphasized her acceptance of her body and humanity, saying, “No, I am NOT a victim. I’m just human.” Despite health challenges, Gomez has expressed excitement about future motherhood, mentioning the possibility of adoption or surrogacy, saying, “I’m one of those people who’s excited for that journey, even if it looks a little different.”
In her personal life, Gomez has been dating record producer Benny Blanco since July 2023. Blanco shared on The Howard Stern Show that he hopes to start a family with Gomez, to which she humorously responded in Vanity Fair, “I was dying laughing… like, ‘Anything else you wanted to put out there?’” Still, Gomez praised their relationship, calling Blanco “a light in [her] life” and adding, “I’ve never been loved this way.”
