LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz left Lahore on Thursday aboard a private jet for Geneva, Switzerland, where she is scheduled to consult her personal medical team.
The chief minister had been under medical care locally after a severe throat infection led to her brief admission at Sharif Medical City Complex. Following three days of prescribed rest, her doctors gave her clearance to travel internationally.
Sources suggest Maryam Nawaz will spend several days in Geneva for her medical appointments before embarking on a tour of European countries with her father, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and her brothers.
Nawaz Sharif, who arrived in Geneva from London earlier today, is expected to meet his daughter during her stay. The family’s planned European tour will last about a week, with CM Maryam set to return to Pakistan on November 12.
Her trip had previously been postponed twice in recent days due to health concerns, but the clearance for travel now allows her to resume her schedule.
