MUMBAI: Mumbai Police have registered a case following a threat made against Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Indian media reported.
The threatening call, traced to a young man named Faizan from Raipur, Chhattisgarh, was made directly to a police station in Bandra on November 5 at 1:20 PM. Faizan allegedly demanded a ransom of INR 5 million, warning of harm to Khan if the demand was unmet.
A police team was dispatched to Raipur to investigate further.
This incident comes after Khan received a death threat last October following the blockbuster success of his films Pathaan and Jawan. The threats prompted authorities to upgrade his security to a Y+ level, ensuring he is protected by six armed personnel 24/7 instead of the previous two guards.
Celebrity security remains a critical concern in India. Earlier this year, Indian police arrested two members of a criminal gang for firing at Salman Khan’s residence. The Bishnoi gang, known for several murders and extortion schemes, has targeted Salman since his 1998 blackbuck hunting case, with their leader issuing assassination threats.
The gang, linked to the killing of rapper Sidhu Moose Wala in 2022, highlights the ongoing risk prominent figures in India face from organized criminal networks.
