Donald Trump Clinches Nevada’s Electoral Votes, Marking 6th Swing State Victory in 2024 Race

Donald Trump has officially won Nevada’s six electoral votes, bringing his total to 301, well above the 270 needed for victory, according to projections from The Associated Press. Democratic nominee Kamala Harris currently holds 226 electoral votes. Nevada’s results were announced on Saturday, Nov. 9, following a determination that remaining Democratic ballots were insufficient to overcome Trump’s 46,000-vote lead in the state.

With Arizona as the only uncalled swing state, Trump was previously declared the winner after securing Wisconsin on Nov. 5. The 2024 election’s seven key battleground states — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Nevada — were crucial in deciding the outcome under the Electoral College system. Nevada’s vote was especially significant, as the state has a strong track record of aligning with the winning presidential candidate.

Nevada, historically a Democratic-leaning state, has seen a rise in nonpartisan and third-party voters since 2020, making this year’s outcome particularly unpredictable. The shift is attributed to changing demographics and voter discontent with the traditional two-party system.
