During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Don Johnson shared a wild story involving his late friend, writer Hunter S. Thompson, and actor Johnny Depp. Johnson recounted a prank from years back when he sent an assistant to Thompson’s house to pick up some supplies. Depp and Thompson, hiding behind a car with shotguns loaded with blanks, jumped out and fired at Johnson’s unsuspecting assistant, scaring him so badly he “peed his pants.”
Kimmel joked that he’d have had an even stronger reaction, asking if the assistant still worked for Johnson. Johnson confirmed that the assistant had since moved on, laughing that he might not be “in the best mental condition” after the prank. Depp’s close bond with Thompson, whom he portrayed in Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas and The Rum Diary, added depth to the story, showcasing the legendary writer’s wild side.
