Ellen Kuras’ Lee, featuring Kate Winslet as wartime photographer Lee Miller, will premiere at London’s first Women and World International Film Festival on Nov. 21. The screening follows Lee’s release on Sky Cinema earlier this month and will be accompanied by a Q&A with Miller’s son, Antony Penrose, producer Kate Solomon, and screenwriter Marion Hume, moderated by actor and Primetime founder Victoria Emslie.
Running Nov. 21-23, the festival centers on women’s roles in global conflict zones, with Ukrainian filmmakers Ksenia Bugrimova and Mariia Vynogradova leading the event. Highlights include a panel discussion with actor Brian Cox, Oscar-nominated director Waad al-Kaateb, and Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.K., General Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, focusing on women’s contributions in world history.
The festival features premieres like Porcelain War and a lineup of films and documentaries exploring women’s experiences in conflict zones like Ukraine, Syria, and Afghanistan. Co-founder Bugrimova expressed her commitment to spotlighting women’s voices amid global conflicts, stating, “Women play many roles, from volunteers to survivors, and their stories deserve to be heard.”
