Michael Jackson Biopic ‘Michael’ Gets New Release Date With Jaafar Jackson in Lead Role

Lionsgate’s highly anticipated Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, has been rescheduled for release on October 3, 2025. Initially set for April 2025, the release was delayed to allow for additional work on the ambitious project, directed by Antoine Fuqua (Training Day). The film, starring Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson as the King of Pop, also boasts a strong ensemble cast including Nia Long, Laura Harrier, Miles Teller, and Colman Domingo.

Jaafar Jackson expressed his excitement on Instagram, saying, “I’m humbled and honored to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life. To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon.” Michael aims to explore both the superstar’s complex humanity and musical legacy, featuring an extensive soundtrack of 30 songs. Fuqua shared his passion for the project at San Diego Comic-Con, explaining his personal connection to Jackson and his hope to capture the artist’s incredible influence on music and pop culture.

Producer Graham King, who also worked on Bohemian Rhapsody, promises a similarly ambitious scope for Michael, showcasing Jackson’s music and groundbreaking achievements. From Thriller’s record-setting 37-week run at No. 1 to Jackson’s unmatched catalog of 13 Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 singles, the film is expected to celebrate Jackson’s lasting influence on the world. Fans eagerly await the release, which promises to be both a tribute and a cinematic spectacle worthy of Jackson’s legacy.
