Four ‘rape suspects’ killed in alleged police encounter in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Four suspects, arrested in a gang-rape case, were killed in an alleged police encounter near Nishatabad police station in Faisalabad.

According to police, the deceased suspects—Zahid, Naveed, Islam, and Qasim—were in police custody on remand in connection with a robbery-rape case.

Police were escorting the suspects to Achkira village for a recovery operation when their accomplices attacked the police party near Ghulam Muhammadabad number two.

In the ensuing shootout, police claimed that the accomplices killed the four suspects and fled the scene. The deceased were reportedly involved in the gang-rape of a woman during a robbery one and a half months ago.

This incident follows a similar case last month, where two alleged dacoits were killed in an alleged shootout with Karachi Police near Nagin Chowrangi. According to rescue sources, two dacoits were shot dead in a gun battle with police, while a citizen, who had been robbed after withdrawing cash from an ATM, sustained injuries during the exchange of fire. The injured citizen was immediately rushed to the hospital.
