Robbers steal 35 iPhones worth Rs6m from Karachi trader

KARACHI: A trader carrying 35 iPhones from the Saddar Mobile Market was robbed near the Water Pump area of Karachi on Sunday.

According to Muhammad Rizwan Irfan, President of the Electronics Market Association, the robbers made off with mobile phones worth over Rs6 million from the trader, who was en route to Rahim Yar Khan after purchasing the phones.

The victim, traveling from Karachi to Rahim Yar Khan, was targeted by the robbers near the Water Pump area. Irfan mentioned that this incident is part of a growing trend, with over 15 similar robberies involving traders, raising concerns about their safety.

A case has been registered at the Samanabad Police Station, he confirmed.

This is not the first instance of mobile snatching targeting traders in Karachi. Earlier this year, robbers looted cash and box-packed mobile phones from a shop in the Z-2 area of Gulshan-e-Maymar.

CCTV footage from the incident showed armed bandits arriving at the shop disguised as customers and making off with cash and goods worth millions. During the robbery, one of the culprits could be seen engaging in a friendly conversation with the shop owner while the crime unfolded.
