MUSCAT, OMAN: Pakistan registered a resounding 4-1 victory over Malaysia on Sunday and extended their winning streak at the ongoing 2024 Men’s Junior Hockey Asia Cup in Muscat, Oman.
This is Pakistan’s fourth consecutive victory in the tournament, following their opening 7-2 triumph over China, a 6-0 routing of Bangladesh and a resounding 7-0 victory over Oman.
This victory ensured Pakistan that they remained unbeaten in their group.
Sufiyan Khan delivered an extraordinary performance, scoring a hat-trick — his second in the tournament — to secure the win for Pakistan.
Malaysia initially leveled the score in the first half with an early goal, but they struggled to find the net again as Pakistan’s players took control, scoring four consecutive goals.
Goalkeeper Junaid Janjua was a standout performer, making crucial saves to keep Malaysia at bay. His stellar performance earned him the “Man of the Match” award.
With this victory, Pakistan has already secured a place in the final, where they will face Japan.
The team’s impressive form and teamwork throughout the tournament position them as strong contenders for the championship.
