RAWALPINDI: Former interior minister and Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed, while welcoming reports of talks between the government and PTI, expressed skepticism about their success on Monday.
Speaking to the media outside an anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Rawalpindi, Rasheed acknowledged that negotiations between rival parties are not inherently bad. “Parties always come to the negotiating table after wars,” he said.
However, he warned that if the dialogue between the government and PTI yields no results, tensions between the two sides would escalate.
Rasheed also condemned the tragic incident of November 26, saying that its impact could not be adequately expressed in words. He shared details of a recent meeting with PTI founder Imran Khan at Adiala Jail, but refrained from discussing the specifics of their conversation. “Imran Khan still considers me his friend,” he added.
Rasheed said he predicted ongoing instability in Pakistan until December 30 and mentioned his recent trip to Saudi Arabia, where everyone he met prayed for Pakistan’s stability.
