GILGIT: In a move to boost digital education and economic opportunities in remote areas, the Pakistan Army, in collaboration with the Special Communications Organization (SCO), has established a freelancing hub at Government Boys High School Taus in Gilgit-Baltistan.
The facility, aimed at equipping local youth with essential digital skills, offers training in online business, freelancing, and digital marketing. School Principal Shaheen Beg noted that the hub is a significant development for both students and the wider community, providing access to tools and knowledge necessary to compete in the global digital economy.
“This freelancing hub will not only benefit our students but also the broader community,” Principal Beg stated. “It is a vital step in preparing our youth for future job markets by fostering digital literacy.”
The initiative underscores growing national efforts to address the digital divide in Pakistan’s northern regions. Principal Beg highlighted that such facilities are crucial in empowering local youth, enabling them to tap into global employment opportunities while contributing to the local economy.
The freelancing hub aligns with broader national goals to enhance digital skills and create sustainable employment opportunities in underdeveloped regions. It is expected to serve as a model for similar projects in other remote areas.
By bridging the gap between education and emerging market demands, the initiative marks a forward-thinking approach to fostering digital literacy in Gilgit-Baltistan.
