Multipolarization is an unstoppable trend of the times, says China

BEIJING: The Chinese Foreign Ministry on Tuesday stressed that multipolarization is the underlying trend of today’s world and an unstoppable trend of the times.

Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks at a regular press conference responding to a media inquiry on a recent report by Munich Security Conference.

The report noted that the world is at the dawn of an increasingly multipolar era, with China being the world’s most prominent advocate of a new multipolar order and upholding an equal and orderly multipolar world. It also highlighted that the Chinese people widely believe that multipolarization fosters peace and prosperity.

China stands for an equal and orderly multipolar world alongside a universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, Guo said, adding the country is committed to practicing true multilateralism.

He reiterated that China works for greater democracy in international relations and calls for countries around the world to jointly safeguard the purpose and principles of the UN Charter, upholds fairness and justice, and plays a constructive role in resolving international and regional hotspot issues.

Stressing that the country upholds win-win cooperation and firmly boosts own high-quality development, Guo said China continues to advance high-level opening-up, promote trade and investment liberalization and facilitation while ensuring stable and smooth global industrial and supply chains. In recent years, China has been the largest driving force for global economic growth, contributing around 30 percent.

“The world today is confronted with multiple challenges. It is all the more important for countries around the world to have closer cooperation,” said the spokesperson.

He voiced China’s willingness to work with all parties to follow the trend of the times, share opportunities, overcome challenges and promote development together, building a community with a shared future for mankind and making greater contributions to safeguard and promote world peace, stability, development and prosperity.
