JI leader slams federal, Balochistan govts over worsening security

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Deputy Ameer Liaquat Baloch has strongly criticized both the federal and Balochistan governments for their inability to maintain law and order, following the brutal killing of laborers in Barkhan, Balochistan.

Calling the act the “worst form of terrorism,” he condemned the failure of security agencies to prevent such tragedies and urged the leadership to devise a comprehensive national action plan against terrorism.

Speaking at the Tamaal-e-Pakistan Conference in Mansoura, Baloch stated that Pakistan’s ruling elite is more focused on appeasing the establishment and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) rather than addressing the people’s grievances.

He blamed the government for economic mismanagement, highlighting the closure of 33% of textile mills, the decline of agriculture, and growing rifts between the federation and provinces. Inflation, he said, has tripled in the last three years, contradicting the government’s claims of economic recovery.

Baloch also criticized the lack of local government empowerment and the unfair distribution of resources, warning that the public’s frustration is pushing the country toward chaos and rebellion. He called for an immediate restructuring of governance, demanding real solutions rather than hollow promises.

On a positive note, Baloch praised Pakistan for successfully securing the hosting rights for the Champions Trophy, calling it a significant achievement despite alleged Indian attempts to disrupt the event. He also reiterated JI’s support for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and urged Pakistan to take a stronger stance against India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

In closing, he expressed condolences over the passing of PPP leader and MNA Nawab Yousaf Talpur, recognizing his lifelong dedication to democratic values and unwavering commitment to his party.
