ISLAMABAD: The government has announced that this year’s Pakistan Day Parade will be held on March 23 within the premises of Aiwan-e-Sadr, but on a limited scale due to the holy month of Ramadan.
Despite earlier speculation about its cancellation, officials confirmed that the traditional military parade will take place, albeit with a simpler format. According to government sources, contingents from the Pakistan Army, Navy, and Air Force will participate in the ceremony.
President Asif Ali Zardari will attend as the chief guest, where he will receive a salute from the armed forces during the parade. A fly-past by Pakistan Air Force fighter jets is also scheduled as part of the proceedings.
In addition to the military display, the Pakistan Army’s Pipe and Percussion Band will showcase their performance. Foreign diplomats and other distinguished guests have been invited to attend the ceremony.
Officials emphasized that while the scale of celebrations has been reduced in observance of Ramadan, the parade will still reflect the nation’s spirit and honor its armed forces.
