CM Maryam orders foolproof security for Chand Raat, Eidul Fitr

  • On directives of Punjab CM, action against overcharging in transport fares continues

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has directed authorities to ensure foolproof security arrangements for Chand Raat and Eidul Fitr celebrations.

She has instructed an increased presence of women police squads in markets to safeguard women and children.

In Lahore, additional police personnel have been deployed across 65 commercial centers, while drone cameras and night vision binoculars are being used for surveillance.

Strict monitoring of suspicious activity in markets has been ordered. Furthermore, to prevent one-wheeling on Chand Raat, checkpoints have been set up at 55 locations, and 225 police officers have been stationed near ATMs and banks for public safety.

CM extends best to Ummah on sighting of Eid crescent

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has greeted the Muslim Ummah on the sighting of the Shawwal moon, saying that it is a prayer that the moon of Shawwal rises on us with peace, faith and security. “I pray to Allah to accept my prayers, salutations and salutations during the holy month of Ramazan.” Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said that she pray that the moon of Eidul Fitr brings peace and happiness to every home. Meanwhile, on directives of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the operation against overcharging in transport fares continues and passengers were refunded Rs3.3 million, besides more than Rs2.3 million fines were imposed on transporters for overcharging in fares.

Overcharging of more than 1333 vehicles has been proved, 264 vehicles have been stopped for overcharging in challans, fares.

Passengers surprised to get back the money collected illegally in the form of overcharging in fares. “Thank you Chief Minister, someone thought of people going their hometown for celebrating Eid,” passenger’s feedback.

 

On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, a special helpline 042-99030222 has also been set up for passengers, besides Eid holidays of employees and officers of the Transport Department have been canceled.

Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz congratulated the Deputy Commissioners, officers and staff of the Police and Road Transport Authority on appropriate action to facilitate the public.

All public transport vehicles should display prominently fares list at their vehicles and transport companies office. The Punjab Chief Minister directed the Transport Department and Administration to be available for facilitating the public on Eid days as well.
