CM Maryam, Turkish Vice President explore ways to strengthen bilateral ties

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz held a key meeting with Turkish Vice President Cevdet Ylmaz on the sidelines of her visit to Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025.

The Turkish vice president thanked Maryam Nawaz for her participation in the conference, while the chief minister expressed gratitude for the invitation.

During their discussion, both leaders explored ways to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and Türkiye, particularly focusing on education, trade, skilled workforce development, and economic cooperation.

They agreed to promote joint educational projects and economic partnerships, while also exchanging views on global skill mapping and vocational training. Maryam Nawaz briefed the Turkish vice president on Punjab’s ongoing initiatives in education and skills development and extended him a formal invitation to visit Punjab. Highlighting the deep ties between the two nations, Maryam Nawaz remarked, “Türkiye and Pakistan are like brothers.”

Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz attended a cultural show at Antalya Diplomacy Forum on the invitation of Turkish First Lady H.E Emine Erdogan.

She visited different stalls along with the Turkish First Lady, inspected Turkish costumes and other cultural items, and showed keen interest in them. Turkish First Lady H.E Emine Erdogan briefed the Punjab Chief Minister about different Turkish costumes and other items. Organizers of the cultural show talked to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and thanked her on her arrival.

On Saturday, the Punjab Chief Minister met with Turkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and First Lady Emine Erdogan during her visit to Antalya, Turkey.

President Erdoğan warmly welcomed the chief minister and thanked her for participating in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025.

He inquired about the health of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and expressed his best wishes. During the meeting, Erdoğan remarked, “I will meet Nawaz Sharif soon, Insha’Allah.”

Maryam Nawaz conveyed a message of goodwill from her father and thanked the Turkish president for extending the invitation to attend the forum.

Earlier, Maryam Nawaz also held a special meeting with Turkey’s First Lady, Emine Erdogan. Both leaders discussed matters of mutual interest and exchanged messages of goodwill.

Maryam Nawaz arrived in Antalya a day earlier and is currently participating in the Antalya Diplomacy Forum 2025.

She is scheduled to address the international conference today, where she will highlight her government’s initiatives to promote education in Punjab and shed light on her party’s vision.
