King Charles Orders Immediate Changes at Royal Homes Amid Abdication Rumors

In a mark of respect for the late Pope Francis, King Charles has ordered immediate changes at the royal residences, including flags being flown at half-mast.

The royal homes will also feature sombre music during the Changing of the Guard to reflect the sadness of his passing, which was announced by Cardinal Kevin Farrell on Easter Monday.

The Vatican confirmed the death of Pope Francis at 7:35 AM on Easter Monday, with Farrell describing the pontiff as a servant of the Lord, dedicated to the Gospel values of courage, fidelity, and universal love. His legacy includes his deep commitment to the poorest and most marginalized communities around the world.

Following the news, King Charles and Queen Camilla released a heartfelt statement expressing their sadness. “Our heavy hearts have been somewhat eased, however, to know that His Holiness was able to share an Easter Greeting with the Church and the world he served with such devotion throughout his life and ministry,” they said.

The statement continued to honor the Pope’s tireless commitment to faith and humanitarian causes, praising his emphasis on the care of creation and his profound impact on people’s lives globally. The royal couple fondly remembered their personal meetings with the Pope, particularly their visit to him earlier in the month, and extended their deepest condolences to the Church and those mourning his loss.
