Prince Harry’s desire to be there for his ailing father, King Charles, has been met with resistance from Prince William and Queen Camilla, according to a royal insider. Although Harry rushed to the U.K. last year after learning of Charles’ cancer diagnosis, he only stayed for one day before returning to the U.S.
Now, sources claim that William, 42, and Camilla, 77, are “dead set against” allowing Harry back into the royal fold, especially after the bombshell accusations he made against them in his memoir Spare. In the book, Harry described his father as cold and distant, further straining the relationship.
A palace source told Radar Online that both William and Camilla are wary of a reunion, fearing it would lead to confrontation. “The last thing [Charles] needs is to be forced into some sort of confrontation with Harry,” the source explained, adding that Camilla “absolutely loathes him” and that even hearing Harry’s name makes her upset.
With Charles’ health deteriorating, Camilla is reportedly focused on protecting her peace and that of her husband during this difficult time. The source noted that Camilla feels Harry made his choice when he publicly criticized the royal family. “She wants to protect her peace – and her husband’s,” the insider concluded.
