Pedro Pascal Slams J.K. Rowling as “Heinous Loser” Over Anti-Trans Views, Supports Harry Potter Boycott

Pedro Pascal has voiced his strong opposition to J.K. Rowling’s support for a controversial UK ruling that excludes transgender women from certain legal protections, calling the author’s actions “heinous” and “disgusting.” The actor, known for his outspoken support for the LGBTQ+ community, responded under an Instagram video from activist Tariq Ra’ouf, who criticized Rowling’s financial backing of the campaign group For Women Scotland in challenging the legal recognition of transgender women under the Equality Act.

Pascal, whose sister, Lux Pascal, came out as transgender in 2021, shared his thoughts under the video with a blunt remark: “Awful disgusting SH– is exactly right. Heinous LOSER behavior.” His comment came in response to Rowling’s celebration of the UK Supreme Court’s ruling on April 16, which many consider harmful to transgender rights. The ruling allows single-sex services to exclude transgender women, a decision that has sparked widespread debate and protest.

In a show of continued support for the trans community, Pascal attended the UK premiere of Marvel’s Thunderbolts on April 22, donning a “PROTECT THE DOLLS” T-shirt. This campaign, designed by American artist Conner Ives, seeks to highlight the global struggles faced by trans women, with the term “dolls” used affectionately within the LGBTQ+ community to refer to transgender women.

Pascal, who frequently champions his sister’s transition and her activism, is not alone in his criticism of Rowling. Other stars, including Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan, have also denounced the author’s stance. Coughlan took to her Instagram Stories, referring to Rowling’s support of the anti-trans ruling as “a new low,” and stated she would not engage with HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series due to Rowling’s views.

Rowling’s comments on transgender issues have sparked backlash since 2020, leading to public statements from the original Harry Potter cast. Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson have all expressed support for the trans community, with Radcliffe penning an essay apologizing for the pain caused by Rowling’s remarks and Watson asserting that “trans people are who they say they are” in a heartfelt tweet.

Pascal’s unwavering support for the trans community and his direct confrontation of Rowling’s views come amid a wider cultural conversation about transgender rights and representation.
