Railways shuts PRACS, lays off 280 employees amid financial crisis

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan Railways has dissolved its subsidiary, the Pakistan Railways Advisory and Consultancy Service (PRACS), resulting in the retrenchment of 280 employees due to ongoing financial difficulties.

The closure sparked protests by affected staff, who chanted slogans against the railway administration, blocked roads, and announced plans to challenge the move in court.

Railway officials sealed PRACS offices and shifted computers, furniture, and other assets into two large rooms. This follows an earlier round of 80 terminations on April 6.
