DPM Dar discusses regional situation in series of diplomatic calls to brotherly nations

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar on Saturday made a series of diplomatic calls to brotherly and friendly nations to brief them on the evolving situation in the region after India’s unilateral escalating moves and provocation.

FM Dar held separate meetings with Chinese Ambassador and British High Commissioner Jane Marriott and made telephonic calls to Turkish, Egyptian and Azerbaijan counterparts to take them into confidence on the situation arising in the backdrop of Indian allegations against Pakistan following the killing of 26 tourists in a militant attack in Pahalgam in the Indian-Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) on April 22.

New Delhi swiftly pointed the finger at Pakistan, downgraded ties and suspended the crucial water-sharing treaty – the Indus Water Treaty (IWT), raising fears of another military escalation between the nuclear-armed rivals.

Ambassador Jiang Zaidong of China Saturday called on Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and they exchanged views on the evolving regional situation and agreed to maintain close communication and coordination.

During the meeting, they also reaffirmed the all-weather strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.

Pakistan informs Türkiye of NSC decisions over Indian claims

On the other hand, as part of a series of diplomatic calls to brotherly nations, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also spoke with his Turkish counterpart.

According to a statement, Dar updated him on the National Security Committee’s (NSC) decisions in response to baseless Indian allegations.

He also thanked Türkiye for its continued support to Pakistan on all fronts. Both leaders agreed to maintain close contact because of the changing situation in the region.

Senator Dar holds telephonic talk with Azerbaijan FM

Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Saturday held a telephonic talks with the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov and briefed him on recent developments in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

“While rejecting India’s baseless allegations, DPM/FM cautioned against India’s false propaganda against Pakistan and thanked Azerbaijan for its consistent support to Pakistan’s stance on the issue of disputed territory of Jammu & Kashmir,” Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.

Both leaders also discussed ongoing Pakistan-Azerbaijan bilateral cooperation particularly in trade and investment sectors.

British HC, Dar discuss recent regional development

Meanwhile, British High Commissioner Jane Marriott Saturday called on Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the recent regional developments, Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.

The DPM/FM reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its national interests while ensuring regional peace and security.

DPM, Egyptian FM discuss regional developments

Furthermore, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Saturday held a telephonic conversation with his Egyptian counterpart Dr Badr Abdelatty.

Discussing recent regional developments, Dar firmly rejected India’s baseless allegations and condemned its unilateral actions and false propaganda against Pakistan.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to safeguarding its national interests while promoting regional peace and stability.

Both leaders also discussed avenues to enhance Pakistan-Egypt bilateral cooperation.

DPM, Iranian FM discuss regional situation

Yesterday, DPM and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar Friday held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi.

The DPM briefed him on recent developments in Pakistan-India relations and rejected India’s baseless allegations. He cautioned against any further escalatory move by India and appreciated the efforts of Iran to diffuse the situation in the region.

DPM Ishaq Dar also wished all the success for the Iran-US dialogue to be held in Muscat on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Executive Director (ED) Regional Anti-Terrorist Structure (RATS) of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Maj-Gen Ularbek Sharsheyev called on General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, NI (M), Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) at Joint Staff Headquarters in Rawalpindi here Saturday.

During the meeting, both sides discussed evolving security dynamics in the region and collaborative measures to enhance counter terrorism cooperation, said a news release issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

The CJCSC acknowledged the efforts of SCO (RATS) for promoting regional cooperation to fight the menace of terrorism and reaffirmed Pakistan’s strong commitment to ensuring sustainable peace at the regional and global levels.

Visiting dignitary lauded the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, it further said.
