- Ex-PM denied basic rights, Indian spy got VIP treatment: Waqas
- Slams govt’s misplaced priorities amid national crisis
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) vehemently condemned the “illegitimate government” for keeping PTI founder Imran Khan in solitary confinement in a death cell in fake, fabricated, and politically-motivated cases, blatantly mocking the judiciary and brazenly defying court orders without fear of accountability.
PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram Sheikh Waqas Akram, in a strongly-worded statement on Tuesday, described these actions as part of a “deliberate and systematic” campaign to isolate the country’s most popular and unifying leader from the public.
Sh Waqas said the “imposed regime” was not only ridiculing the authority of the judiciary but was brazenly defying court orders, turning the country into a lawless state.
The PTI CIS emphasized that PTI founder was the only unifying force in Pakistan, yet the regime was denying him fundamental and constitutional rights, including meetings with lawyers, family, and political leaders.
“Even an enemy spy like Kulbhushan Jadhav was provided consular access and allowed to meet his family with full state protocol,” he pointed out, regretting Pakistan’s most beloved leader and former PM is being treated worse than a criminal.
Sh Waqas expressed deep concern over the safety and well-being of Imran Khan, who has been kept in complete solitary confinement to deliberately isolate him from the public eye at a time when the nation is confronting serious external threats.
PTI CIS came down hard on the form 47 government for its misplaced priorities and disastrous policies, stating that the power-hungry rulers, instead of uniting the nation in a time of crisis, were hell-bent on deepening divisions, crushing dissent and silencing patriotic voices.
He warned that the regime’s blatant defiance of judicial directives reflected a deep contempt for the rule of law and set a dangerous precedent that could undermine the very foundations of the state.
Waqas urged the judiciary to protect its own dignity by holding violators of court orders accountable and making an example out of them. He warned that if this judicial silence continued, Pakistan risked turning into a failed state where lawlessness, repression, and impunity become the norm. “The collapse of judicial authority will have devastating consequences for every citizen of Pakistan,” he cautioned.
PTI CIS strongly criticized the conspicuous silence of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz over India’s unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty and its aggressive threats against Pakistan.
He raised serious concerns over the Sharif family’s questionable reluctance to condemn India’s hostile actions, pointing to their long-standing business ties with Indian tycoons and their personal rapport with Narendra Modi.
“While Pakistan faces an existential threat from India’s water aggression, the Sharif family’s criminal silence speaks volumes about their priorities,” he said. “Their financial interests and friendship with Modi seem to outweigh their duty to defend Pakistan’s sovereignty—a stance that is not just questionable, but outright condemnable.”
He also condemned the illegal detention of PTI leader Sanam Javed, her husband, and several others, stating that the regime was using state terror to crush dissent and instill fear. “What kind of democracy jails peaceful political workers while granting state patronage to criminal elements?” he asked.
He expressed sorrow that Pakistan’s most significant threat did not stem from external adversaries, but from “power usurpers” who undermined democracy, violated the rule of law, fractured national unity, and flouted the constitution and court orders with unchecked impunity.
