Court defers Sanaullah’s indictment in drugs case

LAHORE: An anti-narcotics court in Lahore on Saturday deferred the indictment of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Punjab president Rana Sanaullah Khan in a drug case.

Khan arrived late for the hearing. When asked, his counsel informed the court that certain sections of the motorway were closed due to dense fog. The court asked the prosecutor to continue giving arguments meanwhile.

The prosecutor told the court that copies of the statements against the former minister could not be provided, however, the testimonies had been recorded in accordance with the law.

During the hearing, the defense said the case was unlike routine cases. He said that it was Khan’s legal right to obtain copies of the statements against him regarding the accusations of the global supplement of drugs by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF).

The court reserved its decision on Sanaullah’s petition for getting the copies of the testimonies in the case which would be announced in the next hearing.

Later, the court adjourned the hearing of the drug recovery case till January 11.

Later, while speaking to media persons, Khan said that the decision regarding resignations of PDM will be finalised after the decisive long march.

He said Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has presented its stance pertaining to the matter according to the present situation.

He said Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) will get people rid of the “incompetent” government. The incumbent regime did nothing in three months except focusing on the opposition’s meetings, he said.
