ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases have crossed the half a million mark and reached 502,416 during the last twenty-four hours, said the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Sunday.
As many as 2,899 more people tested positive for the infection during the aforementioned period. The coronavirus claimed 46 more lives in the country during the past 24 hours, lifting the countrywide death toll from the disease to 10,644.
A total of 44,410 samples were tested, out of which 2,899 turned out to be positive on Saturday. Pakistan has conducted a total of 7,088,014 tests since the outbreak of the pandemic in the country in February 2020.
The number of recovered patients stands at 456,969 as 1,524 recoveries were also seen during the last 24 hours. A total of 2,278 of the Covid-19 patients under treatment are said to be in critical condition.
Punjab’s tally for Covid-19 reached 144,909 after it recorded 798 fresh cases on Saturday, the provincial healthcare department maintained. About 18 more deaths were also recorded, taking the provincial death toll to 4,260. The province has so far seen 130,120 recoveries.
Sindh reported 829 new coronavirus cases during the past 24 hours, taking the tally to 226,338. According to Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, six more patients succumbed to the deadly virus as the death toll jumped to 3,699. He further said that 747 more patients recovered overnight, taking the total to 204,075.
So far, Sindh has reported 226,338 cases, Punjab 144,909, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) 61,148, Balochistan 18,373, Islamabad 39, 120, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 8,478, and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 4,879.
