Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has said that batsman Sharjeel Khan, being in form, will be a winning addition to the national side.
In a virtual press conference in Lahore ahead of the team’s training camp for the Africa tour, Babar said that Sharjeel with the support of the management is working on his fitness issues.
“Sharjeel will work on his fitness. One cannot expect him to become [as fit as] Shadab Khan overnight,” the skipper added.
“He is a match winner. He is in form and it [his inclusion in the side] will be beneficial for Pakistan. His form right now can help us and he is one of the best openers. I have played with him in Karachi Kings and he can take away the pressure and totally change the game. I never asked for him in ODIs but for T20 cricket, which is a short format, you can adjust.”
Babar’s comments came after Head Coach Misbahul Haq had expressed his reservations over the batsman’s selection amid poor fitness.
