Quetta Gladiators’ fast bowler Anwar Ali has tested positive for coronavirus, the franchise confirmed on Tuesday.
Anwar will now miss the remainder of Pakistan Super League sixth edition.
Ali became the third player to be ruled out of the tournament after former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi suffered a back injury and pacer Naseem Shah was ruled out of the league for violating the coronavirus safety protocols.
The Quetta Gladiators manager said that Ali has been sent into isolation after testing positive for the infection.
According to a news outlet, the players of all six franchises are scheduled to fly out to Abu Dhabi on Wednesday, and all individuals are required to quarantine in their hotel rooms for seven days after that before being allowed to enter the bio-secure environment, if they return negative tests.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has created three separate bubbles in Abu Dhabi: one for players, support staff, match officials, hotel staff and PCB officials; the second, in a different hotel, for the TV production crew and key event management personnel; and the third is an accommodation dedicated to the groundstaff.
Players and support staff from Sri Lanka have reached Pakistan and will fly out to Abu Dhabi along with the Pakistanis as all flights will reach on Wednesday.
