LAHORE: Muhammad Amin, father of University of Home Economics Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Kanwal Ameen and grandfather of singer Ali Zafar, has passed away at the age of 81 on Saturday.
Amin had served as deputy military estate officer and deputy chief officer lands at Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited.
He left behind a widow, one daughter and two sons.
His funeral prayer was offered at Bahar Shah Graveyard in Saddar Town.
Ali Zafar, in a tweet, said “My grandfather, Mohammad Amin, whom I was very close to, (who) has always been my idol since childhood and who taught us the importance of hard work, honesty, compassion and care for others, (has) passed away today.”
Ali Zafar requested his fans to pray for his grandfather’s soul, saying that “his (grandfather’s) life cannot be summed up in a few lines.”
The vice chancellors of different public sector universities also expressed condolences on the sad demise of Prof Kanwal’s father and payed for the departed soul.
