ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) leader and former governor Sindh, Mohammad Zubair has reacted to the meeting of his party leader Nawaz Sharif with the National Security Adviser of Afghan government Hamdullah Mohib, saying that the party leadership was informed about the meeting.
Feeling the heat of public and political criticism over the meeting, Muhammad Zubair said that the meeting of Mohib with Nawaz Sharif was ‘just a meeting’ and it should not be considered as ‘endorsement’ of anti-Pakistan narrative of Mohib.
“You may disagree with the policy of the state (of Afghanistan) but the meeting of Nawaz Sharif was just a meeting and it should not be considered as endorsement or support (of the Afghan leader),” he added.
It may be recalled that former prime minister and PML-N supreme leader Nawaz had held a meeting with Afghan National Security Adviser Mohib at his Avenfield apartment in London.
When the photos of the meeting came to light, Nawaz faced severe criticism because Mohib has used foul language against Pakistan which were strongly responded by Pakistan.
Following the outburst of Mohib, the former chief of notorious Afghan intelligence agency, National Directorate of Security (NDS), Pakistan had decided not to have any contacts with Mohib. This is why Nawaz Sharif’s meeting with Mohib drew strong reactions on media. Nawaz was also heavily criticized by federal ministers and other politicians.
