PTI legislator secures bail in sexual harassment case

LAHORE: A district and sessions court in Lahore on Monday granted interim bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf MPA Khurrum Laghari in a case pertaining to sexual harassment and blackmail after the petitioner expressed her disinterest in pursuing the complaint.

In a complaint registered with Defence-A police station in August, Amina Yaqoob accused Leghari of developing an intimate relationship with her and forcing her to sign a blank marriage certificate to give legal cover to the purportedly unconsented fling.

She also accused the suspect of storming her residence with armed men.

Reportedly, Yaqoob complained to the elders in the Leghari family who urged her to report the matter to the police if the parliamentarian threatened her again.

Yaqoob, in a recorded agreement, pardoned Leghari. “I have no objection if the court approves his bail since we have reached a settlement. I’m no more interested in pursuing the matter any further.”
